In geological and mineral exploration, diamond/core drilling is widely used due to its accuracy in obtaining subsurface samples. During drilling, clean water or bentonite-based drilling fluid is typically applied to cool the drill bit and carry cuttings to the surface.
However, with increasingly strict environmental regulations, the traditional method of mud pit settling is no longer sufficient. It leads to land contamination, inefficient solids removal, and significant fluid loss.
To address these challenges, GN has developed a closed-loop geological drilling mud treatment system, designed to minimize environmental impact while improving drilling efficiency.
Closed-Loop Mud Treatment System – Overview
GN’s system is engineered specifically for geological coring drilling mud, enabling efficient solid-liquid separation and reuse of drilling fluid.
Main Components
The system typically includes:
- Small shale shaker
- High-speed decanter centrifuge
- Mud supply pump
- Jet mixing hopper
- Mud tank
